3 Sebmun – Today began with a start…a sea snake crawled into my pants and bit me. Fortunately, I wasn’t poisoned. I wondered if it were an omen. We followed that up by swimming through a pack of snakes to get to another opening. Above that, another climb. As Zef arrived at the top, he found Eil! Blessed be Halav’s name, he lives! I was most pleased to see that no harm had come to him. I was not pleased to see that we had come out at a spot close to where we began our cavern journey. There was another passage that we had briefly attempted to explore, but were thwarted by giant scorpions. We decided that we should return to finish exploring that area. We did, and encountered the scorpions once again. This time, we were victorious. Zef got us through a door we previously could not access, and the exploration continued. We ventured into a new area, but everything led to more dead-ends. This time, a voice told me to check the walls in a certain section. I did, and found a secret door! This led to some other chambers, one of which was at the bottom of a steep shaft. Zef climbed the shaft, and tied a rope off. He found another room with desks, chests and crates on the floor! We began an eager search of the area. We found many beautiful and wondrous things! Who could have anticipated such a rich find! Chests of gold, iron and silver ingots, furs and pigments to sell, golden instruments and dining sets, as to be found in the halls of kings! We also found an exceptionally beautiful and well-created mace. I must admit that I have my eye on it. Halav forgive my covetous behavior. As we began to pile the objects, Moridin made his way to the library, on the wall in a second room. He searched over the books with great eagerness. I watched as he examined text after text, until he found a set of books. He searched no more, and removed the books with great care and awe. He began to open and read over them. It not fully occur to me what he sought until, as we piled the last objects, he muttered some words and made some gestures with his hands. While I could not discern the result, it was surely a magic detection spell, as he indicated thereafter that several of the items were enchanted. These included: the mace, a ring, a pair of velvet gloves, a bag of powder, a scroll and a potion. It’s clear through his actions that he is working to become an arcaner, in the way of Saladin’s friend. Moridin clearly does not possess the power that the other did, and I did not see or feel a drain caused by the spell as during the attack on Luln. I must divine guidance in this matter. For now, I shall withhold judgment until Halav shows me the way. Or has He already? How am I to interpret today’s events? Is he a danger, and needs to be dealt with? Or is he one that must join me to help bring about the deliverance of Luln and the church? Such questions weigh heavily upon me now. As we continued to gather the items, we noticed mud dripping down into a side chamber, filling the room. We must now get these goods back to the ship.
